Our ring rolling mills
for seamless rolled rings

Everything runs smoothly for us

We produce seamless rolled rings from pre-forged blanks on our computer-controlled ring rolling mills. Computer-controlled process monitoring provides continuous visual information about the remaining rolling path, the actual volume and the resulting actual dimensions as well as any ovality of the ring.

Of course, all rolling parameters can also be adjusted manually at any time for optimization. Rings weighing from 80 kg to 8,000 kg, with an outer diameter of 250 mm to 3,500 mm and a height of up to 850 mm can be produced on the rolling mills.

The seamless rolling of rings enables production to very tight tolerances. This reduces the amount of primary material used and also significantly reduces the amount of processing required to produce the finished part. These rings are used, for example, as gear blanks, planetary gears, bandages, bushes, plain and ball bearings, tire moulds, grinding rings, sealing rings, flanges, cutting rings and much more.

Insights into our ring rolling mill

The electromechanical ring rolling mill

Our electromechanical ring rolling mill is integrated into a fully automated and interlinked production line which, in addition to the ring rolling mill, essentially consists of the following systems/aggregates:

  • Robot for laser-assisted measurement (geometry) of the forged ring blanks before heating
  • Rotary chamber furnace for heating standard grades
  • Double-chamber forging furnace for heating special grades
  • Descaling system for the heated ring blanks before rolling
  • Robot for marking the rolled rings

All material handling within the production line is carried out by a gantry-bound manipulator. The automated production process is controlled by a central process control system with a superimposed production control system.

Seamless rings with an outer diameter of 200 mm to 1,250 mm (in exceptional cases up to 1,500 mm), a height of 30 mm to 420 mm and a weight of up to 800 kg can be rolled.

The main benefits of the new ring rolling line are considerably shorter throughput times, significantly reduced energy requirements, optimized material usage combined with the highest product quality and precise material tracking within the process chain.

The new ring-rolling line was funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy on the basis of a decision by the German Bundestag.
